Jami Masjid Sungai Jambu is one of the oldest mosques in Indonesia are located in  Jorong Jambu River, Nagari Sungai Jambu, District Pariangan, Tanah Datar district, West Sumatra. The mosque is located at the foot of Mount Merapi was built in 1918, which in its development has undergone a number of improvements in terms of both physical and management. This mosque had several times ranked first in the mosque environmental assessment for the province conducted by the Indonesian Council of Mosques, like the last one in 2012.

 

Currently used for activities other than worship of Muslims, the mosque is also used as a means of religious education to the surrounding community. In addition, a number of religious activities and social activities are also regularly held in this mosque.

 

The mosque is located in Nagari Sungai Jambu, who in legend is mentioned as one of the oldest villages in Minangkabau. The construction of this mosque began in 1918. [1] With the funding that flows from overseas and locals, the building of this mosque may eventually made permanent in 1988. In a further development of this mosque also continue to fix the management system and the activities in it , so this mosque became the center of almost all local social activities.

 

The rise of social activities centered on the mosque was making several times assessed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs as the best mosque to the provincial level. [2] At the national level, the mosque was also nominated Environmental assessment Plenary mosque. [3]

 

In addition to functioning as a place of worship, religious activities and social activities are also regularly held in this mosque. Religious activities that have been initiated by among others the activities named cottage Qur’an, which in addition to deepen the ability of memorizing the Quran, the pesertnya also prepared to become preachers. The mosque, which has a building area of ​​600 square meters is also has a library with a collection of hundreds of titles.
